About Elihu Abbe

Welcome to Success V’Simcha! My name is Elihu Abbe. I’m an alum of Yeshivat Kerem B’Yavneh, a musmach of YU/RIETS, and a graduate of Wurzweiler School of Social Work. I’m currently living in Baltimore and completing the YU Yadin Yadin Kollel. I have always been a personal growth fanatic, and it has led me to writing three books on personal growth, obtaining three certificates in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy from the Beck Institute, listening to many hours of Tony Robbins lessons and trainings, and becoming a coach and leadership trainer with the John Maxwell Certified Team. I have had the zechus to teach Torah and tikkun hamidos to talmidim of all ages as a sgan rosh beis medrash, synagogue rabbinic assistant, high school rebbe, as well as in a social work capacity in both elementary and high school.

The Proven Benefits of Coaching and Training

“Our findings not only show that coaching and training effectively enhance performance, but also emphasize the beneficial effects of coaching on client goal attainment.”(Frontiers in Psychology 2016, Losch et al., printed on the National Institute of Health website)“Harvard Business Review research concludes that coaching boosts productivity by 44%”(“Every Leader Can Benefit From Coaching. Here’s Why.” Benjamin Laker. Forbes Website, October 2022)

Why John Maxwell Coaching and Training John C. Maxwell is an internationally respected leadership expert, speaker, trainer, coach and author. For more than 40 years, John has been teaching people to answer their call to lead, to add value to and make a difference in the lives of others. He has devoted himself to developing and training leaders at all levels. John’s latest achievement is as founder of his globally acclaimed John Maxwell Team (JMT), an elite group of certified coaches, teachers, speakers, trainers and professionals who have helped people worldwide create a leadership legacy within their own spheres of influence. John Maxwell Team members inspire positive life transformation and help others achieve their highest vision and goals, both personally and professionally.

Why me? There are so many coaches, trainers, and speakers available. What is the extra value that I bring to the table? In addition to the Maxwell training that I have received, I also have a masters degree in social work from Yeshiva University, and several certifications in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy from the Beck Institute. My unique niche comes from synthesizing the lessons of the Torah from almost two decades of intense study together with the wisdom of close to one hundred of the contemporary classic works of personal growth and positive psychology.

Uplifted

Haskamos for Sefarim

"I enjoyed very much everything I read (from this sefer)...Already from his previous book he is an established expert and his work is known to be effective."

(translated from Hebrew)

— Rav Hershel Schachter Shlit"a

"I was delighted to read through the latest sefer from our Talmid, Rabbi Elihu Abbe...His dedication to be marbitz Torah to the rabbim is most commendable and his writing is clear and most inspiring"

— Rav Menachem Penner Shlit"a

"Every person who reads and learns from this sefer Uplifted will without a doubt become spiritually and positively elevated... Rabbi Elihu Abbe strengthens one's appreciation for this unique creation of our special neshama by quoting so many words of our Chazal and sifrei mussar.."

.— Rav Yitzchak Cohen Shlit"a

My esteemed talmid Rabbi Elihu Abbe Shlit"a has written an important and erudite book extracting mussar nuggets from the pages of the Talmud. R' Elihu himself is a living embodiment of a mussar personality, as someone who strives for excellence not only in his Torah scholarship but also in his fine and refined charachter. I have read many pages of the manuscript and have found this work to be glistening with pearls of wisdom and Torah-based insights into the challenges and potential of the human personality. I highly recommend this volume.

— Rav Yona Reiss Shlit"a

It is with much enthusiasm and admiration that I pen this letter in support of Rabbi Elihu Abbe's newest work, titled "Uplifted". Rabbi Abbe masterfully weaves through classical texts from Chazal through many passages in the Gemara, Rishonim, and Acharonim. These timeless teachings are enhanced by contemporary psychological insights and perspectives. As a trained social worker, Rabbi Abbe combines insights into the humancapacity for change and a positive perspective to life in general. The author is na'eh doreish v'na'eh mikayeim (Yevamos 63)- as he himself exemplifies these teachings, as an individual endowed with great simchas hachaim and strong desire to help others reach their fullest potential...

— Rav Yosef Kalinsky Shlit"a

Haskamos for Torah Leadership Curriculum

“My friend and colleague, Rabbi Elihu Abbe, MSW, has produced a very impressive piece of work, which I’m sure will be a valuable addition to high school curriculums.
Torah-Based Leadership is an excellent resource integrating the best of modern personal development research with ancient and always relevant Jewish wisdom. Rabbi Abbe has masterfully crystallized these ideas into a very clear and inspiring curriculum, which I foresee being widely used for a variety of aims- Shabbaton materials, Rebbe programs, informal education, mental health awareness, and more. I’m excited to think of the many students who will work on their traits and habits and improve their lives thanks to this new educational treasure. Well done!”
- Rabbi Dr. Seth Grauer, Rosh Yeshiva/ Head of School, Bnei Akiva Schools, Toronto

“Rav Elihu Abbe is an exceptional talmid chacham and unusually perceptive and caring therapist. His groundbreaking Torah-Based Leadership curriculum is thorough, well-researched and engaging. Perhaps most significantly, the material is presented in a refreshingly relevant and straightforward manner that elicits a desire in the learner to beome a better leader of himself and others. I highly recommend this curriculum to anyone desirous of mature, measured character refinement rooted in Torah sources.”
- Rabbi Ari Jacobson, Rav of the Young Israel of Monsey and Wesly Hills
Menahel of ASHAR, Monsey NY

“With this beautifully researched and practical curriculum, Rabbi Elihu Abbe has provided the chinuch world with an invaluable asset in these times when so many Jews are yearning for true Torah leadership. Rav Elihu utilizes his special blend of Da’as Torah and proficiency in the human condition to guide the participant in their development of the tools required to be an emotionally balanced and spiritually seeking servant of Hashem.”
- Rabbi Avi Lehrer, LCSW

“Rabbi Elihu Abbe has an excellent ability to merge his deep Torah learning with his mental health training to produce this excellent curriculum. As Rabbi Abbe’s supervisor in his MSW studies, I saw his discipline and growth on a personal and professional level in addition to his strong desire to learn CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). Since that time, he has become a skilled therapist and this is the result of these efforts. I highly recommend this work and his newly released book, ‘Psychology in the Talmud, Guidelines for Simchah and Personal Growth.’”
- Marcy Davidovics, LCSW, EFT, Davidovics Therapy Group
